JAKARTA (JP): In commemoration of this year's golden anniversary of Indonesian independence, the Indonesian Economists Association will hold a discussion and writing competition on traditional, or wet, markets the association announced yesterday.

Soeroso Dasar of the association said that experts from various disciplines will discuss and analyze many aspects of wet markets in the first discussion on June 13, which will present former state minister of population and environment Emil Salim as a keynote speaker.

He said that the results of the discussion will be formulated in another meeting on July 5, with less participants.

The writing competition, which is open to all Indonesians, will take the topic of The development of traditional markets in response to challenges of the future: Its concepts and application, he said.(32)
