West Sumatra Provincial Government Prepares Venue for Eid al-Fitr Prayer 1447 H in the Governor's Office Courtyard
The West Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov Sumbar) is planning to hold the provincial-level Eid al-Fitr prayer on 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah at the courtyard of the West Sumatra Governor’s Office. The timing of the event will be adjusted according to the results of the Sidang Isbat, to be determined by the central government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
Ahmad Zakri, Assistant for Government and Public Welfare at the West Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, stated that the provincial-level Eid al-Fitr prayer is open to the general public and serves as a moment of togetherness between the government and the community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
“Insha Allah, the West Sumatra provincial-level Eid al-Fitr prayer will be held in the courtyard of the Governor’s Office. We invite all members of the public to join in celebrating Eid al-Fitr with full devotion and to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood,” said Ahmad Zakri on Wednesday (18/3).
He reiterated that the timing will follow the official decision of the central government through the Sidang Isbat. Nevertheless, various technical needs to ensure the Eid al-Fitr prayer runs smoothly, orderly, and comfortably for the congregation are already being prepared by the Provincial Government’s Islamic Major Holidays Committee (PBHI).
For the prayer session, Arry Yuswandi, the Secretary of the West Sumatra Provincial Government, is scheduled to serve as the khatib, while the prayer will be led by Edi Salman, the imam of the Sheikh Ahmad Khatib Al-Minangkabawi Grand Mosque in West Sumatra. Meanwhile, Edi Dharma, Head of the Public Welfare Bureau at the West Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, explained that the government has also prepared an alternative venue for the prayer if weather conditions are unfavourable.
“If it rains, the Eid al-Fitr prayer will be moved to the Sheikh Ahmad Khatib Al-Minangkabawi Grand Mosque in West Sumatra,” said Edi Dharma.
Pemprov Sumbar urges the public attending the provincial-level Eid al-Fitr prayer to arrive early and maintain order during the worship. Through this joint Eid al-Fitr prayer, it is hoped that the spirit of togetherness, Islamic brotherhood, and values of faith will be further strengthened among the people of West Sumatra.
