West Sumatra Province to implement one-way traffic ahead of and after Eid al-Fitr

Before Lebaran, one-way traffic will be implemented from Thursday 19 March 2026 to Friday 20 March 2026, i.e., H-2 to H-1. After Eid al-Fitr, the one-way traffic arrangement will be in effect from Sunday 22 March 2026 to Tuesday 24 March 2026, i.e., H+1 to H+3. The time-based one-way implementation will be allocated according to time blocks. ‘At each transition between these time blocks, a clearance time, or sterilisation time, will be applied,’ said the former Mayor of Padang. Mahyeldi explained that the sterilisation time is the interval during which the flow of vehicles from both directions is halted temporarily to ensure the road segment is empty and sterile before the next flow is allowed. The time-based, one-way system will be applied via Lembah Anai, in Tanah Datar Regency, with control points and traffic management at Kayu Tanam (Tarok City Toll Exit) junction and Padang Panjang (Padang) junction as the segment boundaries of the traffic engineering. Mahyeldi also confirmed that the Lembah Anai route will be opened 24 hours during Lebaran transport period 2026, from Wednesday 11 March 2026 to Tuesday 31 March 2026, i.e., H-10 to H+10. The use of this route is limited to cars and motorcycles, said Governor Mahyeldi.
