The parade ground of the West Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters became a historic witness to the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening the character of young people. On Tuesday, 10 March, West Sumatra Regional Police Chief Irjen Gatot Tri Suryanta formally launched the collaborative People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat) coaching programme with the West Sumatra Provincial Social Services.

This innovative programme represents a direct initiative by Gatot Tri Suryanta as an implementation of the Police Care for Education (Polri Peduli Pendidikan) commitment. Acting as the driving force in the field, the Head of the Human Resources Bureau of West Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Anissullah M. Ridha, served as the principal executor who formulated a comprehensive coaching scheme for the students.

The activity is grounded in Article 31 of the 1945 Constitution regarding citizens’ right to education and the spirit of Presidential Decree 120/2025 issued by President Prabowo Subianto concerning free education for poor and extremely poor families, which includes the mandate to provide People’s Schools. Responding to the Police initiative, the Head of the West Sumatra Provincial Social Services, Syaifullah, expressed the highest appreciation, even requesting that the degree of cooperation be elevated into a permanent programme.

“We fully support the West Sumatra Regional Police’s action. In fact, we hope this cooperation is upgraded to permanent status so that the process of character transformation for our children in the People’s Schools has strong sustainability,” Syaifullah stated firmly.

The parade ceremony reached its peak when students demonstrated the results of coaching under the direction of the West Sumatra Regional Police Human Resources Bureau. Muhammad Fauzan led his peers from SRMA 4 Padang in demonstrating disciplined physical training. Meanwhile, agility in physical development and sports was demonstrated by Fauzil from SRMP 5 Solok, and scouting skills by Daniel Jonathan from SRMP 4 Padang.

The atmosphere became warmer during the interaction session. Muhammad Asgar asked about tips for good leadership, which was answered directly by the Police Chief by emphasising the importance of integrity. Several female students, including Inayah Mustika Ratu, Erzizah Febrianigun, and Tita Martalita, expressed their aspirations to join the female police force.

Responding to questions from a teacher representative, Eno Aulia Fikri, S.Pd., regarding programme sustainability, Kombes Pol Anissullah M. Ridha assured that the Human Resources Bureau has prepared a series of ongoing activities, ranging from psychological support to self-reliance training.
