REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – West Sumatra Province (Sumbar) faces various disaster events that significantly impact society, from floods and landslides to earthquakes. Throughout 2025, hundreds of disaster incidents are recorded, testing the speed of response and the effectiveness of public service recovery.

The West Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov Sumbar) is improving by partnering with Citiasia Inc and Trada to initiate a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating the implementation of smart city towards smart province. This step marks Sumbar as the first province in Indonesia to carry out the Integration of Single Emergency Data and Integration of Warning System directly connected nationally.

The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Sumbar, Arry Yuswandi, explained the province’s strategic position as a pioneer in this implementation. “The key word is collaboration. We are not just adopting technology, but becoming the first province bold enough to integrate emergency data and warning systems at the national level,” said Arry in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

The Integration of Single Emergency Data serves as the foundation to ensure that every public report can be handled quickly, accurately, and in a coordinated manner. Through this system, Sumbar leads the digital transformation in crisis management by ensuring:

First, the 112 service as the main channel for emergency assistance directly connected to all regional devices. Second, integration of the warning system synchronised with the national network, enabling early warnings to be delivered in real-time to all corners of the region.

Third, accelerating the smart province concept through the preparation of a Smart City Masterplan in all districts/cities as a strategic foundation for developing standardised public service systems. “This is a tangible form of government protection for residents,” said Arry.
