Muslim M. Yatim, a member of the MPR RI from the DPD Group, officially opened the 2026 MPR RI Four Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) for the West Sumatra Province level in Padang. The event is part of an effort to strengthen students’ understanding of national values while building the character of the younger generation.

The event was attended by the Deputy of Administration for MPR RI, Heri Herawan; the Head of the Bureau of Legislative and Constitutional Affairs, Wachid Nugroho; and the Head of the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office, Habibul Fuadi. The competition panel includes academic experts from UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar and Universitas Negeri Padang.

In his opening remarks, Muslim emphasised that the Four Pillars Quiz is not merely a competition of speed in answering questions, but a medium to shape a younger generation possessing national insight, integrity, and love for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). “This activity aims not only to find who can answer questions the fastest, but to form a young generation that understands Pancasila values, respects the constitution, maintains national unity, and nurtures Indonesia’s diversity,” Muslim stated on Saturday (1/8/2026).

Muslim also addressed the challenges of the digital era, noting that while technology offers great benefits, it also brings risks such as the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, intolerance, and potential social fragmentation. He stressed that Pancasila values must serve as a guide to ensure the Indonesian nation remains united. He added that national education should aim not only to enhance academic or economic capabilities but to create individuals grounded in morality, integrity, and responsibility.

Habibul Fuadi, Head of the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office, noted that the competition is a vital effort to strengthen character and nationalism. He highlighted that all participants are top students who have passed selection processes at the regency and city levels. He also invoked the historical legacy of West Sumatran national figures, such as Mohammad Hatta, Mohammad Yamin, Tan Malaka, and Mohammad Natsir, as inspirations for the youth.

The 2026 West Sumatra Provincial Four Pillars Quiz is being contested by nine schools that passed the regional selection: SMAN 1 Padang, SMAN 1 Sijunjung, SMAN 1 Tilatang Kamang, MAN Insan Cendekia Padang Pariaman, SMAN 1 Gunung Talang, MA IT Insan Cendekia Payakumbuh, SMAN 1 Solok, SMAN 2 Bukittinggi, and SMAN 3 Painan.
