West Sumatra Kajati Praises Andre Rosiade for Initiating Bukittinggi-Sicincin Toll Road Project

The Head of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati Sumbar), Dedie Tri Haryadi, has given special appreciation to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Commission VI, Andre Rosiade. The appreciation was given for his role in initiating the construction of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, specifically the Bukittinggi-Sicincin section. The statement was made by Dedie after chairing a preparatory meeting for the toll road construction at the West Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday (24/7/2026). The meeting was attended by all stakeholders, including local government, the National Land Agency (BPN), the Ministry of Public Works, PT Hutama Karya, the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), and the prosecutor’s office. “Today we discussed the Padang-Sicincin-Bukittinggi toll road. All stakeholders were present. In essence, the construction of this toll road is, God willing, ready to begin and will be completed on time and on target so that it can be utilised by the people of West Sumatra,” Dedie said in a statement on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Dedie specifically expressed his gratitude to Andre Rosiade, whom he described as the driving force behind the acceleration of this national strategic project. “We are honestly very grateful to Mr Andre Rosiade. He initiated the construction of the Sicincin to Bukittinggi toll road. The people of West Sumatra should also be grateful because this project will provide enormous benefits for the region,” Dedie said. Dedie emphasised that various issues which had previously been obstacles to construction have now been discussed and resolved through cross-agency coordination. All parties are now working as a solid, unified team to ensure the project proceeds without hindrance. “We have unravelled the issues. We are one team, a solid and complete team. The National Land Agency, together with the Head of the Civil and State Administration Law Section, will go directly to the field to ensure the land status is truly clear and clean,” he said. Regarding land acquisition, Dedie stated that the approach taken will strongly prioritise the interests of the local community. “As Mr Andre said, this is not compensation, but rather ‘profit replacement’,” he said. The West Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office is also committed to providing legal assistance if future problems arise, including disputes involving indigenous communities. “We will provide assistance if there are disputes with indigenous communities. We will resolve them later,” he stressed. In response to the appreciation, Andre Rosiade instead expressed his gratitude to the Head of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office and his entire team, whom he considered the main drivers in coordinating the acceleration of the toll road construction. “As a member of the House of Representatives representing the entire West Sumatra community, I would like to thank the Head of the High Prosecutor’s Office and all ranks of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office who have worked exceptionally hard to initiate and coordinate this meeting. This is the third meeting and, thank God, all issues have been unravelled,” Andre said. Andre revealed that two main issues of concern have finally obtained concrete solutions. First, the toll road route is confirmed not to pass through the Kubang Putih area in Agam Regency. Second, the location of the Padang Panjang exit has been agreed upon with a new design that is closer to Bukittinggi City. “The Kubang Putih issue is resolved. The new route does not pass through Kubang Putih. I ask that the polemic be stopped immediately because all stakeholders have agreed. Likewise, the Tarasan Panjang exit has a new, problem-free solution,” said the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Minang Family Association (IKM). According to Andre, the route change was made so that construction is not further delayed by polemics on the ground. He reminded that the interest of this toll road project is far more massive because it will boost West Sumatra’s economic growth. “If Padang is connected to Pekanbaru, West Sumatra’s agricultural products can be more easily sent to Riau. Conversely, people from Riau can come to West Sumatra for tourism every weekend. The economic turnover could reach hundreds of billions of rupiah per day. So, this is not just for one village, but for the interest of the entire West Sumatra community,” he said. With the mitigation of various issues, Andre is optimistic that PT Hutama Karya can soon begin the construction process for the Bukittinggi-Sicincin section by the end of this year.
