West Sumatra Government Facilitates Free Halal Certification for MSMEs
The West Sumatra Provincial Government is facilitating free halal certification for micro and small enterprises (UMK) in the region. This initiative aims to help business operators meet the mandatory halal certification requirements set by the central government. According to data, out of approximately 600,000 micro and small enterprises in West Sumatra, only around 69,000 have obtained halal certificates. The government, through the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH), has set a deadline of 17 October 2026 for businesses to comply with the halal certification obligation, with administrative sanctions applicable for non-compliance.
