West Sulawesi allocates Rp25 billion for infrastructure in Pasangkayu
Mamuju (ANTARA) — The West Sulawesi (Sulbar) Provincial Government has allocated a budget of Rp25 billion for infrastructure development in Pasangkayu Regency in 2026.
“Despite constrained fiscal conditions, the West Sulawesi Provincial Government has still allocated Rp25 billion this year for infrastructure development in Pasangkayu Regency,” said Suhardi Duka in Pasangkayu on Monday.
He acknowledged that the budget allocation is not large, but the government is ensuring it is properly targeted to deliver maximum benefit to the public.
“The budget may be small, but if it is placed correctly, managed well, and intended for the public interest, it will still deliver benefits,” Suhardi Duka said.
Amid efficiency policies, the Governor revealed that West Sulawesi’s economic performance has in fact shown a positive trend. In 2025, the province’s economic growth reached 5.36 per cent, exceeding the national average.
“Previously, regional economic growth hovered around four per cent and tended to fall below the national average,” he said.
Furthermore, Suhardi Duka said the regional government has also succeeded in reducing poverty rates and narrowing the Gini ratio as an indicator of decreasing economic inequality.
“This is the result of joint efforts between the provincial and regency governments, which have become increasingly harmonious in implementing development programmes,” he said.
Suhardi Duka emphasised that regional development is now directed towards more solid collaboration between the provincial and regency governments so that development programmes proceed in a unified policy direction.
“Regencies can no longer go left while the province goes right. Now we take one step together to resolve issues thoroughly,” he stressed.
He also acknowledged that many public expectations have yet to be fully met due to limited regional fiscal capacity.
“For this reason, the government is applying development priority scales whilst strengthening relations with the central government to obtain additional budget support,” Suhardi Duka said.
The Governor disclosed that in 2025, the central government had allocated more than Rp20 billion for regional road construction in Pasangkayu Regency, separate from national road sections.
For 2026, Suhardi Duka said the West Sulawesi Provincial Government is again pursuing central funding through the Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Regional Road programme for three road sections proposed by the Pasangkayu Regency Government.
“I have already received a promise from the Minister of Public Works. However, we also understand that there have been disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, so much of the Public Works budget has been allocated to disaster response there,” he said.
Nevertheless, Suhardi Duka said the West Sulawesi Provincial Government remains optimistic that central government support will materialise to accelerate equitable infrastructure development in Pasangkayu and other areas across the province.
