West Pasaman seeks central government support for infrastructure repairs following November disaster
Simpang Empat (ANTARA) - The Pasaman Barat Regency Government in West Sumatra has submitted a proposal to the central government for the repair of infrastructure damaged by natural disasters. “The repair proposal has been submitted to the central government through the West Sumatra Provincial Government,” said the Regional Secretary of Pasaman Barat, Doddy San Ismail, in Simpang Empat, on Tuesday. According to him, the infrastructure damaged by the natural disaster at the end of November 2025 includes roads, bridges, buildings, irrigation systems, coastal protection, and drinking water infrastructure. “The total loss of infrastructure due to the natural disaster is IDR 197,120,000,000, with an estimated budget requirement for handling the damage of IDR 571,305,000,000,” he said. The types of damage include road collapses at two locations in Pamatang Panjang, Parit Koto Balingka District, and in Ranah Koto Tinggi, Parit Koto Balingka District, as well as roads in Batahan Tengah, Ranah Batahan District, Batahan Barat, Ranah Batahan District, and on the Kajai road, Talamau District. There are 13 bridge locations affected, including in Ranah Koto Tinggi, Parit Koto Balingka District, Batahan Tengah, Ranah Batahan District, Talu, Talamau District, Sikabau, Parit Koto Balingka District, Koto Gadang Jaya, Kinali District, Kanai, Talamau District, two locations in Maligi, Sasak Ranah Pasisia District, and Sasak, Sasak Ranah Pasisia District. Furthermore, damage occurred in Situak, Lembah Melintang District, Sikaping, Ranah Batahan District, Kajai, Talamau District, and in Paraman Ampalu, Gunung Tuleh District. Two buildings were damaged, namely a classroom and toilet at SDN 14, Ranah Batahan District, and the fence surrounding the village head’s office and the irrigation system in Desa Baru, Ranah Batahan District. Damage to irrigation systems was reported at 23 locations, coastal protection at 14 locations, and eight drinking water infrastructure facilities were also damaged.
