West Pasaman Regency Distributes Rice to Communities Affected by Natural Disasters
Simpang Empat - The West Pasaman Regency Government in West Sumatra, through its local Food Security Agency, has distributed food assistance in the form of rice to communities affected by disasters in five sub-districts in the area.
The Head of the West Pasaman Food Security Agency, Ekadiana Oktavia, in Simpang Empat on Wednesday, stated that each family receives 10 kilograms of rice assistance per month.
In this phase, she said, the aid is distributed at once for a three-month allocation, namely January to March 2026, so each household head receives a total of 30 kilograms of rice.
She explained that the assistance is intended for life guarantee recipients (jadup) in the category of severely damaged houses.
A total of 30 households spread across five sub-districts are targeted for this phase of assistance, namely Kinali, Pasaman, Gunung Tuleh, Talamau, and Ranah Batahan Sub-districts.
She emphasised that the distribution of this assistance is a form of the government’s presence in accelerating post-disaster handling.
“The regional government is committed to providing full support to the community during the recovery period. This assistance is expected to ease the economic burden and maintain family food security,” she said.
She added that the distribution is carried out directly to the recipients to ensure accuracy of targets.
To ensure transparency and smoothness, the Food Security Agency coordinates with sub-district governments up to nagari (villages). Validation of recipient data has been conducted to ensure the aid reaches the right targets.
One of the aid recipients, Zulkaidah, expressed gratitude for the assistance.
“In the midst of difficult conditions after the disaster, this aid is very meaningful for us for daily needs. We thank the government,” she said.
The West Pasaman Regency Government emphasises that it will continue to oversee all stages of disaster management, from the emergency response phase to long-term recovery, to ensure the safety and welfare of the community.
