West Pasaman awaits asset disposal letter for People's School construction

The West Pasaman Regency Government, West Sumatra, is still awaiting a letter from the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the disposal of rubber tree assets located on the planned site for the Padang Tujuh People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat) in Nagari Aua Kuniang, covering an area of 6.4 hectares.

“All administrative requirements have been completed; we are only waiting for the asset disposal letter, as there are rubber trees on the land that are recorded by the Ministry of Agriculture,” said the Acting Head of the West Pasaman Social Affairs Office, Vanvoni Gorbi, in Simpang Empat on Wednesday.

He added that the budget for land clearing has already been allocated within the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning. “Once the asset issue is resolved, work can commence immediately.”

Gorbi, alongside the Regent and Deputy Regent of West Pasaman, has met with the Minister of Social Affairs regarding the People’s School project. According to information from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the construction tender is scheduled for December 2026, with construction set to take place in 2027.

He noted that the People’s School is a strategic programme of the central government, and his office aims to accelerate its development. The proposed location for the school is in Padang Tujuh, Pasaman District, situated behind the Social Affairs Office and in front of the Department of Transportation Office.

He expressed hope that the asset release letter from the Ministry of Agriculture would be issued promptly to allow construction to proceed. He explained that, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s programme, the People’s School will be dedicated to children from impoverished families listed in the Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN), specifically those within the first and second deciles.
