West Papua provincial government and Conch Group discuss renewable energy investment
Manokwari - West Papua provincial government and Conch Group discussed plans for renewable energy investment and cement industry capacity enhancement in Manokwari Regency. West Papua Deputy Governor Mohamad Lakotoni stated in an official statement received in Manokwari on Tuesday that the local government appreciates Conch Group’s commitment to expanding renewable energy investments, which aligns with sustainable development goals. ‘The concept of renewable energy and industrialisation discussed during the meeting in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, China, on Sunday (24 May) aligns with West Papua’s development vision,’ Lakotoni said. He hopes the implementation of renewable energy and industrialisation will improve local human resources, particularly the workforce, and drive regional economic growth. Renewable energy-based investments and industrial downstreaming must be maximised alongside community empowerment to ensure equitable distribution of development benefits across West Papua. ‘We also strive to ensure each investment generates multiplier effects through job creation, workforce skill enhancement, and strengthening of micro, small, and medium enterprises,’ he added.
