The Family Empowerment and Welfare Mobilisation Team (PKK) of West Papua Province has prepared 38 kitchens to support the consumption needs of each contingent participating in the 14th National Ecclesiastical Choir Festival (Pesparawi).

Srie Wanenda, Secretary of the West Papua PKK, stated in Manokwari on Wednesday that her team, acting as the consumption section of the organising committee, has provided guidance to the food providers for participants and officials from 38 provinces.

"Well in advance, we held meetings with all kitchen providers to technically discuss food provision and distribution patterns," she said.

She explained that food providers are divided into two groups to adjust to raw material availability, and daily menu samples are first subjected to laboratory checks by the Manokwari Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM). The consumption section involves not only the PKK but also BPOM Manokwari, the West Papua Nutritionists Association (Persagi), the Health Quarantine Centre (BKK), and the provincial and Manokwari Regency Health Offices.

"Food safety must be guaranteed, so food samples are checked every day. Contingents can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Snacks are only provided in the morning and afternoon," she added.

She noted that contingent consumption distribution will take place from 18 to 28 June 2026, in line with the Pesparawi XIV activity schedule. Meanwhile, consumption needs for contingents already in Manokwari before 18 June 2026 are borne by their respective regions.

Each kitchen is responsible for serving one contingent, allowing the food provision and distribution process to be carried out in an organised manner. This scheme facilitates coordination between the committee and kitchen providers should there be special requirements.

"Kitchens number 1 to 19 are in group one, and kitchens number 20 to 38 are in group two. The daily menus between group one and two differ. The menus are prepared by Persagi," she said.

According to her, the readiness of consumption services is a crucial aspect in supporting the smooth running of Pesparawi XIV in Manokwari, considering that thousands of participants and officials will take part in a series of competitions. The committee is also committed to ensuring the quality and punctuality of consumption distribution for each contingent so that the needs of participants and officials from 38 provinces during the event are well met.

"Breakfast distribution starts from 06:30 WIT to 07:00 WIT, while morning snacks have a deadline of 09:00 WIT. Lunch must be at the location by 12:00 WIT, afternoon snacks by 15:00 WIT, and dinner by 18:00 WIT," she stated.

Contingents that have been in Manokwari since Tuesday (16/6) to Wednesday (17/6) are from North Sulawesi, Central Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Aceh, North Sumatra, East Java, Southwest Papua, and West Sulawesi. Others include East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, Jambi, and Gorontalo, while the rest are still travelling from their home regions to Manokwari and will arrive on Thursday (18/6).
