West Papua Police Finalise Security for 14th National Pesparawi

The West Papua Regional Police (Polda) are finalising security scenarios for the 14th National Ecclesiastical Choir Festival (Pesparawi) in Manokwari, set for 18–28 June 2026, through a personnel readiness drill and a ‘tactical floor game (TFG)’. West Papua Police Chief Inspector General Alfred Papare stated in Manokwari on Monday that the National Pesparawi is a national agenda bringing together participants, committees, officials, and invited guests from all provinces, requiring planned and integrated security. Tactical Floor Game (TFG) is a tactical simulation method using maps or miniatures laid out on the floor to visualise an operational plan in the field, commonly used by military and police institutions to refine strategy. ‘All personnel must carry out their duties professionally, responsibly, and prioritise humane service to the public and event participants,’ Alfred said. He explained that personnel readiness, supporting facilities and infrastructure, and an integrated security pattern are important factors in anticipating various potential disruptions during the national religious event. According to him, all personnel involved must understand their respective main tasks and functions and be responsible for the security situation in their designated areas so that the 14th National Pesparawi runs without incident. ‘This TFG is part of finalising the security operation plan for the 14th National Pesparawi in Manokwari. The personnel deployed number 811,’ Alfred stated. Through the simulation, he said, all security elements synchronise their perceptions regarding action patterns, task distribution, and anticipatory steps against various potential vulnerabilities that may arise during the activity. He mentioned several security scenarios have been prepared, ranging from securing the arrival of participants and VIP and VVIP guests, securing activity locations, traffic flow arrangements, accommodation security, to contingency handling mechanisms. ‘The Indonesian National Police is committed to supporting the implementation of the National Pesparawi by providing maximum security at all activity locations, contingent accommodations, and other sites,’ Alfred said. Acting Head of Public Relations for West Papua Police, Commissioner Gadug Kurniawan, said the TFG is an important part of ensuring personnel readiness, facility support, and the security strategy applied during the 14th National Pesparawi. According to him, the event is not only a forum for fostering cultural arts and religion but also a momentum to strengthen unity and togetherness among communities from various provinces in Indonesia. ‘The success of securing a national event is greatly determined by personnel readiness, inter-agency coordination, and the ability of all elements to work in an integrated manner,’ he said.
