Manokwari (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has set an investment target of Rp14.52 trillion for West Papua Province in 2025.

Head of the West Papua Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) Godlief Aponno said in Manokwari on Wednesday that the investment target represents an increase of 11.39 per cent compared to last year.

"West Papua's investment realisation in 2024 was valued at Rp13.036 trillion, exceeding the target by Rp2.42 trillion," Godlief said.

He noted that business licensing procedures have been simplified through the implementation of the Online Single Submission Risk-Based Approach (OSS RBA) system, an online risk-based business licensing application.

The implementation of integrated online business licensing, which is fast and transparent, must be supported by the commitment of all technical regional apparatus organisations (OPD) at both the provincial and district levels.

"This target can be achieved with the support of everyone — the provincial DPMPTSP, district offices, and other technical OPDs," he said.

He assured that efforts to boost investment continue to prioritise environmentally friendly principles, as West Papua has declared itself a sustainable province.

Green investment activities will be guided by the regional spatial plan (RTRW) and potential maps, ensuring no negative impact on environmental conservation.

"Through the potential maps and RTRW, we can identify which areas are conservation zones and which are not. The spirit of investment must not violate regulations," Godlief explained.

Furthermore, he said the regional government is intensifying socialisation and education activities to improve public understanding of the positive impact of investment on development.

"Security guarantees are also an important factor in ensuring investors are willing to invest in West Papua," Godlief said.
