Manokwari (ANTARA) - West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan is promoting the strengthening of synergy among stakeholders to accelerate efforts towards equitable access and quality of education for the young generation in the seven regencies.

“Cross-sectoral collaboration is the key to realising equitable educational services across all regions in West Papua,” Dominggus said at the 2026 National Education Day Celebration in Manokwari on Wednesday.

He stated that education is the greatest investment for the future of the nation’s next generation, so every child in West Papua must have equal access to quality education, whether in coastal or mountainous areas.

The Governor also appreciated the National Education Day Celebration, which is a collaboration between the West Papua Education Office, the Manokwari Education Office, the Education Quality Assurance Centre (BPMP), and the West Papua Teacher and Education Personnel Centre (BGTK).

The event, held to mark National Education Day (Hardiknas), is not merely an annual ceremonial occasion but a moment for reflection to evaluate and strengthen commitment to achieving a quality education sector.

“Improving the quality and standards of educational services cannot be done by the regional government without support from ministries/institutions and all parties,” he said.

Dominggus assessed that the National Education Day Celebration, attended by 2,900 participants from 70 educational units at primary, secondary, and high school/vocational levels in Manokwari to showcase learning outcomes, is concrete evidence of creativity.

The provincial government has prepared several strategic programmes, including the construction and improvement of school facilities and infrastructure, enhancement of educator capacity, and strengthening of an inclusive educational ecosystem.

“We will continue to strive to strengthen the capacity of educators and educational personnel, as well as promote the creation of a character-based educational ecosystem,” he said.
