West Papua BPN Records 163,000 Certificates Ready to Transition to Electronic System
From a total of 331,000 analogue land certificates in the West Papua and Southwest Papua regions, approximately 49.18% are ready to become electronic certificates. Manokwari (ANTARA) - The Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) in West Papua Province has recorded 163,000 land certificates, or about 49.24%, as ready to be converted from analogue to electronic status. Head of the West Papua BPN Regional Office, Keliopas Fenitiruma, in Manokwari on Friday, stated that the media conversion process is carried out gradually with support from valid land books and verified spatial data. “From the total 331,000 analogue certificates in the West Papua and Southwest Papua regions, around 49.18% are ready to become electronic certificates,” he said. All documents first undergo verification and validation by officers at respective land offices to ensure data authenticity before upgrading their status to electronic-ready. “This is to ensure better data quality. The analogue to electronic certificate media conversion process continues to run,” Keliopas said. According to him, implementing a digital system can minimise various land administration problems, such as loss of certificates due to disasters, risks of theft, forgery, and document damage. “Data in the integrated system can prevent dual ownership. If duplicate data is found, the issuance process will be investigated,” he stated. Keliopas added that land areas that are not well mapped have the potential to cause social conflicts, so administrative authenticity checks, mediation, and resolution through civil channels are necessary. He emphasised that electronic certificates have a high level of security because they are equipped with security features and barcodes that can be digitally verified. “If scanned, the certificate owner’s identity will immediately appear,” said Keliopas.
