West Lombok Regional Secretary Akhmad Saikhu admitted he was left blank after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sealed the office of Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ) and the office of the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP) Lalu Ratnawo. According to him, the sealing, which occurred around 7.30 a.m. local time, happened without any premonition or prior information.

‘Obviously, we were shocked. Shocked and blank too. This was very sudden. We had no premonition,’ Saikhu stressed when confirmed on Monday afternoon (20/7/2026).

Saikhu said that before the sealing was carried out, the West Lombok Regency Government did not receive any notification letter or official information from the KPK regarding the case ensnaring the region’s top official. ‘That is why we cannot speak too much because there has been no official release or official information,’ he said.

To date, Saikhu does not know what documents KPK investigators secured from the offices of Regent LAZ and the Head of PUPRPKP. He also could not confirm whether any parties had been detained. ‘Once again, it is because no official information has come into the office,’ he stressed.

Regarding reports that KPK investigators had joined a public screening of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina in the regent’s office courtyard, Saikhu said he was unaware of this. According to him, the public viewing event was attended by thousands of residents and West Lombok Regency Government staff in the early hours of Monday. ‘Well, I don’t know about that. What is clear is that we were watching together from the night. Then suddenly after coming in, this incident happened. So, we don’t know which ones were KPK officers. Obviously, there were many people,’ Saikhu explained.

detikBali monitoring observed that the door to Regent LAZ’s office was fitted with a red ribbon reading ‘Do not cross the line’. Information circulating suggests that LAZ is now at the NTB Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters to undergo further proceedings.
