West Lombok Regent LAZ Arrested by KPK Alongside 18 Others, Seven Flown to Jakarta
The Regent of West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ), was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) along with 18 other individuals.
“In that caught-red-handed incident, the team secured a total of 19 people,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Monday (20/7/2026).
Budi did not specify who the other 18 individuals were. They were taken to the Mobile Brigade Headquarters (Mako Satbrimob) of the NTB Regional Police for questioning.
Observations by detikBali found a number of people at the NTB Police Satbrimob, including Sudirman, Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (PT AMGM), and Lalu Ratnawi, Head of the West Lombok Public Works, Spatial Planning and Housing Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP).
Budi revealed that of the 19 people secured, seven were taken to Jakarta.
“The team is bringing seven of them to Jakarta tonight for further examination at the KPK. One of them is the Regent of West Lombok,” he said.
During the covert operation, officers also secured evidence in the form of cash in various rupiah denominations and several documents. “This case is suspected to involve payments received by the regent in connection with projects within West Lombok Regency,” he said.
Following the sting operation, officers sealed LAZ’s office at the West Lombok Regency Hall, the office of the Head of the PUPRPKP Agency, and the Director’s office at PT AMGM.
Departing for Jakarta tonight
The KPK flew Regent LAZ to Jakarta via Zainuddin Abdul Majid Airport (Bizam) in Central Lombok tonight. They did not arrive at the airport all at once but one after another.
As observed by detikBali, Lalu Zaini was seen at the airport at around 6.30pm local time wearing an ordinary jacket over a light blue shirt. He covered his face with a white mask and a cap whilst carrying a bag. A man in black wearing a mask, believed to be a KPK investigator, was also seen accompanying him.
Fifteen minutes later, at 6.54pm local time, the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP), Lalu Ratnawo, was seen entering the departure terminal of Lombok Airport accompanied by five people believed to be KPK investigators.
Ratnawo wore a plain black-and-white t-shirt and carried a grey suitcase as he walked towards the lounge. Meanwhile, the timing of the arrival of the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (AMGM), Sudirman, was not known.
According to the schedule received by detikBali, the seven individuals secured will be flown to Jakarta for further questioning at the Red and White Building, aboard a TransNusa flight departing at 7.50pm local time.
