West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini Caught in KPK Sting, Wealth Tops IDR 24 Billion

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), resulting in the arrest of Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini. KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the operation on Monday, 20 July 2026, though the agency has not yet detailed the specific case or named other parties who may have been detained. In addition to the arrests, KPK investigators sealed the regent’s office, the Public Works and Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP) office, and the Procurement of Goods and Services (PBJ) office. Amid the operation, public scrutiny has fallen on Zaini’s official wealth report. According to his 2024 State Officials’ Wealth Report (LHKPN), his total assets reached IDR 24,041,842,502. This marks an increase from his previous declaration as Managing Director of PTAM Giri Menang in 2021, which stood at IDR 21,494,410,410. The largest component of his wealth is land and buildings, valued at IDR 14,445,482,500, comprising 24 properties across Mataram, West Lombok, Central Lombok, and Surabaya. Most were self-acquired, while some assets in Central Lombok were received as grants without deeds. Zaini also reported vehicle ownership worth IDR 1,065,500,000, including a 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero, a 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5, a 2019 Toyota Avanza 1.3 G AT, a 2018 Toyota Kijang Innova 2.0 V, a 2020 Honda Beat, and two Honda Scoopy motorcycles from 2019 and 2021. Other reported assets include IDR 288 million in other movable goods, IDR 805,964,500 in securities, and IDR 7,436,895,502 in cash and cash equivalents.
