West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini Arrested in KPK Sting Operation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation in the West Lombok Regency area, West Nusa Tenggara, on Monday, 20 July 2026. The anti-graft agency targeted West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini. The KPK confirmed that the regent has been detained. “He has been arrested,” said KPK Deputy Chairperson Fitroh Rohcahyanto. Based on information received, Lalu Ahmad is scheduled to be transported to Jakarta and is expected to arrive in the evening. Earlier in the same month, the KPK arrested Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani over an alleged extortion case within the Sukoharjo Regency Government, Central Java. The KPK also named Richard Tri Handoko, Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Sukoharjo, and Tri Mulyo, Head of the General Affairs Division of the Regional Secretariat, as suspects. Evidence seized in that case included Rp6.4 billion in cash, foreign currency worth approximately Rp7.5 billion, and 25 pieces of 100-gram gold bars totalling 2.5 kg worth Rp7.3 billion.
