West Lombok Regent Arrested in KPK Sting Operation, Hundreds of Millions in Cash Seized

West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini has been arrested in a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The anti-graft agency seized cash in rupiah denominations and several documents during the operation.

“The evidence secured includes cash in rupiah denominations and several documents suspected to be related to this case,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building on Monday (20/7/2026).

Budi stated that the KPK has not yet provided a detailed breakdown of the seized money, but confirmed the amount reaches hundreds of millions of rupiah. The West Lombok Regent and six other individuals are scheduled to arrive at the KPK headquarters tonight for further examination before their legal status is determined.

A total of 19 people were apprehended in the operation. The sting is connected to alleged gratuities received by Regent Lalu Ahmad related to projects in West Lombok.
