West Lombok Regent Allegedly Received Rp1.2 Billion Alphard and Sacrificial Cow as Bribes

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed that West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini allegedly received a bribe in the form of a car worth Rp1.2 billion and a sacrificial cow from the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (MSI), Alvonsus Gani. Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, explained that the vehicle and the cow were suspected to be part of a total of Rp1.6 billion in illicit receipts by Lalu Ahmad Zaini. “PT MSI is suspected of routinely providing goods, facilities, and cash to LAZ, which allegedly reached more than Rp1.6 billion, including a Toyota Alphard worth Rp1.2 billion,” Taufik stated at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. “There is also a record of one sacrificial cow worth Rp17 million,” he continued. Taufik added that Regent LAZ is also alleged to have received a pair of Hermes shoes worth Rp19 million, round-trip Lombok-Jakarta travel accommodation, at least Rp380 million in cash, and an iPhone 17 Pro worth Rp26 million. According to him, PT MSI President Director Alvonsus Gani provided these items after winning a project related to clean water management in West Lombok Regency for the 2024–2026 period, with a total value reaching Rp27.1 billion. During the sting operation, the KPK apprehended 20 individuals in West Nusa Tenggara and Jakarta, bringing eight of them to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive questioning. On 21 July 2026, the KPK named Lalu Ahmad Zaini and the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda), Sudirman, as suspects in a case of alleged conflict of interest in the procurement of goods and services. The anti-corruption body also named both individuals, along with PT Meconel Sistim Instrument President Director Alvonsus Gani, as suspects in an alleged bribery case within the West Lombok Regency Government.
