Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini, alias LAZ, is suspected of receiving bribes from the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (MSI), Alvonsus Gani, in the form of a car worth Rp1.2 billion and even a sacrificial cow.

Acting Director of KPK Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein explained that the car and the sacrificial cow were allegedly part of Rp1.6 billion in payments received by Lalu Ahmad Zaini.

“PT MSI is suspected of routinely providing goods, facilities and cash to LAZ, allegedly totalling more than Rp1.6 billion, including one Toyota Alphard valued at Rp1.2 billion,” Taufik said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“There was also one sacrificial cow recorded at a value of Rp17 million,” he continued.

In addition, Taufik said Regent LAZ was suspected of receiving a pair of Hermes shoes worth Rp19 million, return accommodation for travel between Lombok and Jakarta, cash of at least Rp380 million, and an iPhone 17 Pro worth Rp26 million.

According to him, PT MSI director Alvonsus Gani provided these items after winning a clean water governance project in West Lombok Regency covering 2024–2026, with a total value of Rp27.1 billion.

During the sting operation, the KPK arrested 20 people in West Nusa Tenggara and Jakarta, and brought eight of them to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for intensive questioning.

On 21 July 2026, the KPK named Lalu Ahmad Zaini and the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda), Sudirman, as suspects in an alleged conflict of interest case involving the procurement of goods and services.

The anti-corruption agency also named both individuals, along with PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (MSI) President Director Alvonsus Gani, as suspects in an alleged bribery case within the West Lombok Regency Government.
