The Chairman of Commission III of the West Lombok DPRD, Fauzi, has requested the Inspectorate to audit two Masaro (Zero Waste Management) projects owned by the West Lombok Regency Government. Fauzi stated that there are irregularities in the Rp 20 billion Masaro project. “Actually, this is already clear as day,” said Fauzi on Thursday (2/4/2026). “We are waiting for the performance of the Inspectorate. Is it true that this (Masaro) is a new machine, but its condition is like this?” he added. Fauzi explained several irregularities found in the Masaro project. Among them is the issue of using the budget from Unforeseen Expenditure (BTT) amounting to around Rp 21 billion to build Masaro. According to Fauzi, the BTT budget should be allocated for handling emergencies or disasters. He also questioned the emergency reason used to build Masaro. “I myself only found out today about the 2025 BTT budget being shifted to Masaro,” added the PKB politician. Fauzi also found that the Masaro machine is assembled and its spare parts do not come from one manufacturer. He then doubted the validity of the e-catalogue that uses a custom system for the waste processing machine. “Is this a forced programme or was West Lombok tricked by this Masaro issue exposure?” he said. Fauzi regretted the large budget spent by the West Lombok Regency Government both in the construction process and the operation of Masaro. Because the machine is not able to work maximally, even damaged. Not to mention the electricity costs reaching Rp 50 million per month. The Head of the Environment Agency (DLH) of West Lombok, M Busyairi, admitted that he did not know about the BTT budget issue used to build Masaro. However, he stated that the procurement of Masaro was carried out considering the emergency waste conditions in West Lombok. “Regarding the budget, I don’t know. The most appropriate to answer is the Regional Finance and Asset Agency (BKAD),” said Busyairi. As is known, the Masaro waste processing machine in Senteluk Village, Batu Layar Subdistrict, West Lombok, is damaged again. Even though the machine was only repaired since the last damage on Saturday (7/3). Busyairi previously said that the damage was caused by waste entering the Masaro machine not being perfectly sorted. Some materials like stones and bricks are often found entering the processing machine, thus damaging the machine.
