West Lombok Deputy Regent Shifts IDR 4 Billion LAZ-Era Hall Renovation Budget, Citing Drought Priorities
West Lombok Deputy Regent Nurul Adha has shifted the Rp4 billion budget for rehabilitating the regent’s office hall to what he considers more urgent needs. Adha assessed that the hall renovation is not yet pressing compared to community needs, one of which is drought management.
Adha said the decision was taken after he and the Local Government Budget Team (TAPD) re-examined the budget in the original regional budget (APBD murni). According to him, there are several high-value projects that are not yet urgent to carry out.
“I together with TAPD dissected all budgets, including the original budget. The meaning of a budget shift is that we must return to the principle that we are permitted to make shifts when very urgent matters occur, urgent matters related to humanity, for example a disaster. One example is the rehabilitation of the regent’s office hall, which is worth Rp4 billion,” he said on Friday (14/8/2026).
According to Adha, the budget for rehabilitating the regent’s office hall from the era of inactive West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ) can be postponed because it is not related to the urgent needs of the community.
“Will anyone die if we postpone it? If we do not carry it out? No. That means it is not urgent,” he said.
Adha said the budget can then be diverted to more urgent needs, such as drought management.
Even so, Adha confirmed that projects that have already been tendered will continue. One of them is the repair of a number of damaged roads in Labuapi District.
“Those that have already been tendered, please continue. God willing, they have started to progress. There is Terong Tawah Road, Jereneng to Perampuan Road, and the Banyumulak tourism road will also continue,” he stressed.
On the other hand, Adha asked that the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) sting operation (OTT) against LAZ serve as a lesson for all ranks of the West Lombok Regency Government.
He reminded the heads of regional apparatus organisations (OPD) to work in accordance with their main duties and functions (tupoksi) and not to play games in projects.
“I invite all OPD heads to make this OTT case a very important lesson. That before the law, no one can help us except ourselves,” said Adha.
“Therefore, the way is for us to work honestly, and never let there be any intention. Because intention will be followed by the next steps,” he concluded.
It is known that inactive West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ) was caught in a sting operation at his official residence on 20 July. KPK investigators then named three suspects, namely LAZ, President Director of PT AMGM Sudirman, and President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (PT MSI) Alvonsus Gani.
LAZ is suspected of receiving bribes related to a number of projects in West Lombok and of having a conflict of interest in the procurement of goods and services (PBJ). He allegedly ordered the Head of the West Lombok Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPRPKP) Lalu Ratnawi to help Sudirman obtain government projects.
Sudirman then allegedly used CV Dyas Karya Konstruksi (DKK) as a project pool bucket by borrowing the names of a number of companies so that CV DKK would not be recorded as the tender winner. The KPK suspects that the tender requirements were arranged in such a way that the companies used by Sudirman would win projects worth Rp17.9 billion through tenders and direct appointments.
The projects include the rehabilitation of Gerung City Park in 2025 worth Rp2.3 billion and the second phase of rehabilitation in 2026 worth Rp4.3 billion. Both projects made Giri Menang City Park one of the works included in the construction of the KPK case.
