West Lombok Civil Servants Prohibited from Using Personal Vehicles During Field Duties
The Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, has requested that civil servants (ASN) within the West Lombok Regency Government (Pemkab) use official vehicles collectively when carrying out field duties or travelling. This policy aims to improve energy efficiency.
“Now, the use of official vehicles when going out to the field, I request that it be done together. So, do not bring personal vehicles during joint events outside; as much as possible, it must be together. We all need efficiency,” emphasised LAZ on Thursday (9/4/2026).
However, LAZ assured that the policy of cycling to the office will not be applied to ASN. He assessed that the geographical conditions of West Lombok are different, as many employees live far away and even have to cross Mataram City to reach the office.
“Indeed, the principle is efficiency, but West Lombok’s character is different from others. The problem is that the employees do not live here; they live far away. The approach is different,” he explained.
In addition, LAZ also emphasised the efficient use of electricity in the office environment. He requested that ASN turn off lights and room coolers (AC) if they are no longer in use.
“For example, if at 3 pm they are no longer working, then turn off the lights. So that the rooms are efficient in terms of power usage. AC off, lights off. ASN rarely work until 4 pm or 5 pm, except for certain ones,” he stated.
On the other hand, LAZ revealed that the Work From Home (WFH) policy or working from home within the scope of the West Lombok Regency Government will be implemented this week. He emphasised that the policy only applies to staff outside the service sector.
“We are starting (WFH). Basically, according to central regulations, those who are allowed to WFH will WFH, those that are basic services must remain,” he stressed.
