West Lampung Regent Inspects Free Nutritious Meal Programme Quality in Schools to Ensure Standards

West Lampung Regent Parosil Mabsus inspected the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme at SMP Negeri 1 Sekincau and SMP Negeri 1 Way Tenong on Thursday to ensure the strategic national programme meets nutritional, food safety, and hygiene standards. The visit was part of the West Lampung Regency Government’s oversight of the programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, aiming to ensure its benefits are optimally received by students. While at the schools, Parosil engaged in dialogue with students to gauge their responses to the meals served. He also requested that teachers act as intermediaries between students and the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit in conveying menu suggestions. “You can all tell us what your favourite foods are. Tell your teachers so they can pass the suggestions on to the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit,” Parosil said. He noted that student input is important to ensure the menus not only meet nutritional needs but also suit their tastes so the food is properly consumed. “If any food smells off or is spoiled, do not force yourselves to eat it. Report it immediately to your teachers,” he added. He stressed that this step is part of efforts to maintain food safety and prevent health risks among students. The Free Nutritious Meal Programme is a national strategic initiative aimed at improving nutritional quality and supporting children’s growth, development, and learning ability. Therefore, he said, the programme’s implementation requires support and supervision from all parties to ensure it continues to meet established standards. “This programme is to improve the nutrition and intelligence of our children. All parties have an obligation to support and supervise it so the programme runs as expected,” he stated.
