TEMPO Interactive, PONTIANAK:The West Kalimantan government has won the Regional Champions 2011 award for investment from the central government. West Kalimantan Governor Cornelis will receive the award from Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa in Jakarta on Wednesday, said the West Kalimantan Provincial Investment Agency head, Yoseph Alexander, as quoted by Antara news office yesterday.

Yoseph said that West Kalimantan’s gross regional domestic product increased from 4.76 percent two years ago to 6.89 percent this year. The unemployment rate also decreased from 11.07 percent in 2008 to 8.5 percent this year.

In 2008, investment plans amounted to Rp43 trillion for local investments and Rp5 trillion was realized. The value increased to Rp53 trillion for this year’s investment plans in the first semester and the realization was Rp9 trillion.
