The West Kalimantan National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) has destroyed nearly 20 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine evidence resulting from the uncovering of an international drug trafficking case. Head of BNNP West Kalimantan, Brigadier General Pol. Totok Lisdiarto, stated on Friday that the destroyed evidence was a Class I narcotic of the methamphetamine type with a net weight of 19,942.32 grammes. “The destruction of evidence was carried out after a weighing and sampling process at the Pontianak Metrology Technical Implementation Unit to obtain the net weight as part of legal procedure,” Totok said. He explained that the evidence originated from a single suspect arrested in a transnational drug trafficking case. Prior to destruction, 20 grammes of crystal meth were set aside for laboratory testing. Thus, the total evidence destroyed amounted to 19,942.32 grammes from a total seizure of 19,962.32 grammes. The evidence was packaged in 20 clear plastic bags wrapped in green tea packaging branded “Qing Shan”, allegedly used to disguise the distribution of narcotics. Totok stated that the case disclosure began with an ambush operation conducted by officers on an unofficial route at the border in Entikong District, Sanggau Regency, on 10 June 2026. During the operation, officers detained a man carrying a suspicious bag. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain 20 packets of green tea packaging containing methamphetamine or crystal meth weighing nearly 20 kilogrammes. Following further investigation, officers also discovered a Toyota Fortuner with Malaysian registration number QSW 5512, which the suspect allegedly used, parked in the Entikong Modern Market area. The suspect was then detained and taken to the Entikong Joint Tactical Command Post for further examination involving Customs and Immigration elements to confirm his identity and citizenship. Based on in-depth investigation, the suspect is a Malaysian national believed to have acted as a courier in a transnational drug trafficking network. Subsequently, the suspect and evidence were handed over to BNNP West Kalimantan for further investigation and development to uncover the network involved. The suspect is charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years, life imprisonment, or the death penalty. “This case disclosure is part of the commitment to eradicate narcotics, especially in border areas prone to becoming entry points for international drug trafficking networks,” Totok said.
