West Kalimantan Attorney General's Office Recovers Rp115 Billion from Bauxite Case
Pontianak (ANTARA) - The West Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Kalbar) has successfully recovered state funds amounting to Rp115 billion in handling the case of alleged criminal acts of corruption in the governance of bauxite mining from 2017 to 2023.
“The recovery of state funds is the result of the investigation process based on the Investigation Order of the Head of Kejati Kalbar Number: 01/0.1/Fd.1/01/2026 dated 2 January 2026,” said the Deputy Head of Special Crimes (Aspidsus) of Kejati Kalbar, Siju, during a press conference in Pontianak on Thursday.
Siju explained that in handling the case, the investigation team carried out a series of steps, starting from searches at several locations in Pontianak City, Sanggau Regency, to Ketapang Regency, as well as intensive examinations of various parties suspected to be involved.
The case focuses on alleged irregularities in the governance of bauxite mining, particularly related to obligations for building purification facilities (smelters). During the investigation, it was revealed that there was a company that did not fulfil its obligation to place a performance bond from 2019 to 2022.
“After law enforcement actions were taken, the company deposited funds of Rp115 billion with the investigators of Kejati Kalbar. The funds were secured as part of efforts to save state finances and will subsequently be deposited into the state treasury in accordance with regulations,” he stated.
This case originated from public reports regarding bauxite mining activities during the period 2017–2023. In response to the reports, Kejati Kalbar issued an Investigation Order on 11 November 2025 before escalating the case status to the investigation stage.
On the other hand, the handling of this case has also attracted public attention regarding transparency, especially in disclosing the involved parties and the overall construction of the case.
Regarding this, Siju stated that the recovery of state funds is part of the commitment to law enforcement to promote transparent and accountable governance of natural resources.
“Through the disclosure of this case, it is hoped that it will provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators and encourage improvements in the mining management system to be more integrity-driven and oriented towards the interests of the state and society,” he said.
