A 23-year-old tourist from West Java, Rianto, who went missing after being swept away by waves at Lakey Beach in Hu’u District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has been found dead. The body was discovered by fishermen searching for fish in the Lakey Dompu waters this morning.

Acting Head of Dompu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Wan Muhtajud, told detikBali on Friday, 29 May 2026: “It has been found by fishermen who were fishing.” He added that Rianto’s body was found floating face-down in the water, wearing a black T-shirt and shorts.

After the discovery, the fishermen immediately reported it to local authorities, prompting Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency) to conduct a rescue operation using a rubber boat. Wan stated the location was approximately 30 minutes by speedboat from the shore.

The body has since been evacuated to Dompu Regional Hospital (RSUD) and will be transported to Majalengka, West Java. Rianto went missing on Wednesday, 27 May afternoon while swimming with a friend at Lakey Beach, where he was swept away while attempting to save himself. His friend was rescued by foreign tourists who were surfing in the area. Joint rescue teams faced challenges due to high waves during the search operation.
