The West Java Provincial Government will organise foreign language training for rural residents. The aim is to improve the skills of villagers planning to work overseas.

The programme will offer four languages: English, Mandarin, Japanese and Arabic.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said the courses would begin in November 2026. Each regional head has been asked to select four villages to host the training.

West Java Manpower and Transmigration Agency head I Gusti Agung Kim Fajar added that the language courses were intended to prepare rural residents for overseas employment and help them avoid problems.

“Preparing human resources is important because migrant workers come from villages. Some encounter problems abroad because they do not know the procedures, let alone the language,” Kim said after an online job fair at PT Food Packaging Jaya in the Losarang Industrial Estate, Indramayu, on Friday (16 October 2026).

The foreign language instructors will be recruited from senior high school and vocational school teachers in Indramayu, or from independent instructors. Kim said the courses would last around six months.

Each village will have places for dozens of participants, and the training will be held in the villages themselves. “The foreign language training will be free so that people are prepared to work overseas,” Kim said.
