West Java Strengthens Role as Sustainable Investment Destination at Bilateral Renewable Energy Conference
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – West Java continues to strengthen its role as an investment destination oriented towards sustainability and equitable development. This was conveyed by Taufik Nurrohim, a member of Commission III of the West Java Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), at the Bilateral Renewable Energy Conference held at the Subang Regency Government Hall on Friday (3/5/25).
The event, attended by 42 investors from China, carried the theme 'Introduction, Strengthening, and Acceleration of Investment in Subang Regency'. It featured delegations from the energy, electric vehicle, and clean technology sectors, including State Grid, Tencent, Sinopec, and Wuling Motors.
Taufik affirmed that West Java is currently entering a new era with a strong commitment to environmentally friendly investment, grounded in legal certainty and prioritising ease of doing business. "We want investors to come not merely because of natural potential, but because of legal clarity, regulatory firmness, and the government's genuine commitment to accompanying investment from start to finish," he said.
He noted that the West Java DPRD has enacted a Regional Regulation on Investment and Ease of Doing Business. The regulation provides fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, including simplified digital licensing, tax reductions on vehicles and heavy equipment, as well as land facilitation and local workforce training.
To ensure the smooth realisation of investment, the West Java Provincial Government will establish an Investment Acceleration Task Force and an Anti-Thuggery Task Force. Both are tasked with resolving technical obstacles and safeguarding the business climate from extortion and intimidation practices.
"Legal certainty must be real on the ground. There must be no extortion, no thuggery. There should only be honest, swift, and transparent service," he said in a written statement.
Subang was chosen as the host due to its strategic position, with the presence of Patimban Port, the KCIC (Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway) corridor, and green industrial zones.
Taufik closed with an optimistic appeal: "West Java is open to anyone who comes bearing clean technology, innovation, and ethics. Let us build a green future from Subang, for Indonesia."
