West Java SPMB 2026 Phase 1 Closes, Hundreds of Thousands of Prospective Students Prepare for Re-registration
The implementation of Phase 1 of the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) in West Java officially ended on 19 June 2026. Following the closure, hundreds of thousands of prospective new students who have been mapped to their chosen schools are now preparing to enter the next crucial phase: the re-registration process.
Head of the West Java Education Office (Kadisdik), Purwanto, stressed that the entire selection series in Phase 1 was carried out upholding the principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability. According to him, quota optimisation continues to be pursued to ensure that every child’s right to education in West Java is properly accommodated.
For prospective students who have successfully passed the selection in Phase 1, the government has set a special schedule for final verification at the destination school. Absence from this schedule may risk the student’s admission status.
Purwanto offered a reassuring message for parents and prospective students who were unsuccessful in the first phase. "For new prospective students who have not been mapped, there is no need to worry because opportunities remain open through SPMB Phase 2. All prospective students still have a chance to obtain educational services," he said.
The West Java Provincial Government acknowledges the limited capacity of state schools compared to the number of junior high school (SMP) and Islamic junior high school (MTs) graduates. As a strategic solution, the West Java Education Office is strengthening synergy with the private sector.
This step is taken to ensure no child drops out of school. Cooperation with private schools is an integral part of the government’s efforts to provide inclusive and equitable access to education throughout West Java.
This year’s SPMB system received appreciation from parents for the ease of monitoring results in real-time. Tuti Ningsih, a parent, expressed her satisfaction after her daughter, Nayla Dwi Alifah, was accepted at SMKN 3 Bandung.
"Throughout the process, we were able to monitor the selection results regularly and everything went smoothly," said Tuti. Nayla echoed this sentiment, feeling relieved after enduring the waiting period for the transparent selection results.
