West Java Regional Secretary and bank bjb CEO Give Public Lectures at Ekuitas University
BANDUNG – Ekuitas Indonesia University held a Public Lecture as part of the Inaugural Lecture for the 2026 intake of new students, in a series of events marking the university’s 24th Dies Natalis. The public lecture featured two main speakers: the Governor of West Java, represented by the Provincial Regional Secretary, Dr. Drs. Herman Suryatman, M.Si., who presented material titled “Sundanese Culture, Leadership, and a Young Generation for a High-Impact West Java”, and the President Director of bank bjb, represented by the bank’s Commercial and Retail Director, Nunung Suhartini, S.Sos., M.M., who delivered a presentation entitled “From the Village to the Digital: The Role of Banking in Driving the Economy and West Java’s Potential”.
In his presentation, the Regional Secretary of West Java Province invited students to see the future not merely as something to be faced, but as something to be built together. Through the lens of Sundanese culture and leadership, students were encouraged to understand their environment, read change, and have the courage to take on a role in regional development.
The message was encapsulated in three philosophies that formed an important part of the material: “Jurus Neres Bumi”, “Jurus Ngapak Mega”, and “Jurus Napak Sancang”. Together they served as a reflection on the importance of understanding one’s roots and environmental conditions, having a broad vision of the future, and remaining grounded in local realities and potential when taking action.
Meanwhile, the Commercial and Retail Director of bank bjb presented an economic perspective through the material “From the Village to the Digital”. The presentation highlighted how developments in banking and digital technology can drive economic growth whilst opening up broader opportunities for the people of West Java.
The discussion covered the strengthening of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the creative economy, financial inclusion, digitalisation, and the role of the younger generation in creating an increasingly adaptive and competitive economic ecosystem. New students were encouraged not only to become users of technology, but also a generation capable of creating value and opportunity through the use of digital technology.
In line with the message of the two speakers, the Rector of Ekuitas Indonesia University, Prof. Dr. R. Arief Helmi, S.E., M.P., affirmed that the 2026 intake of new students occupies an important position in the university’s journey. Their arrival was even described as “the best gift” for a campus that will mark exactly 24 years on 6 September 2026.
Furthermore, the Rector conveyed his vision for Ekuitas Indonesia University to continue developing into a leading private university in business, finance, banking, and digital information systems in West Java. The 2026 cohort, projected to graduate in 2030, was described as an important part of that journey. “We grow together” served as an affirmation that the campus’s progress and the students’ success are one interconnected journey.
The Public Lecture, which also served as the Inaugural Lecture for the 2026 intake, became more than just the opening of an academic year. It provided a meeting space between culture, leadership, the banking world, digital technology, and the spirit of the younger generation in envisioning the future of Indonesia, particularly West Java.
