Bandung - The West Java Regional Police are preparing traffic re-engineering to anticipate congestion and vehicle build-up towards Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, during the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, scheduled from 25 September to 5 October 2026.

West Java Regional Police Head of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the force has divided the arterial routes leading to the stadium area into six security zones, involving 156 personnel.

“These six zones are guarded by 156 personnel, stretching from the Kopo Flyover, Sayati, Katapang, and Soreang, up to the stadium gates and Gajah Mekar area,” Hendra said in Bandung on Tuesday.

Hendra noted that field personnel are prepared to implement several traffic security schemes, ranging from road sterilisation and checkpoints to escorting the movement of player buses and supporters towards the stadium.

“We recognise that this international-scale event brings both pride and challenges to West Java. Therefore, through Operation Garuda Bakti 2026, we are prioritising preemptive and preventive measures, supported by firm law enforcement,” he said.

Hendra emphasised that the police will not tolerate security disturbances during the tournament, including street crime, thuggery, or potential friction between supporters.

“The safety of players, officials, and the public is our top priority, as we continue to learn from past tragedies to ensure they do not recur,” he added.

In addition to the stadium area, security will also be tightened at several hotels serving as accommodation for delegations, including the Pullman Bandung Grand Central, Crowne Plaza, Trans Luxury, and Hilton Bandung.

The West Java Regional Police have also placed 125 personnel from the Bandung City Police at four training locations for the Group B national teams, namely Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Pakistan. These training sites include Arcamanik Field, Saraga ITB, Sidolig Field, and Unpad Field.

Furthermore, Hendra mentioned that, overall, the West Java Regional Police are preparing a combined force of 2,026 personnel to secure the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Group B matches at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.

Hendra added that security around the Si Jalak Harupat area will implement a four-zone or ring system, ranging from Ring 1 to Ring 4.

“Ring 1 will be managed by stewards, who can request police assistance in the event of specific incidents,” he concluded.
