West Java Quran Recitation Competition 2026 Cancelled Due to Budget Cuts and Host Withdrawal

The 2026 West Java Provincial Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) in Garut Regency has been cancelled. The decision was made due to budget efficiency measures and the event’s proximity to the national MTQ in Central Java. In a circular, the West Java Provincial Quran Recitation Development Institute (LPTQ) stated that the programme’s implementation was adjusted due to the unavailability of funds. “We inform you that the West Java Provincial MTQ will not be held,” said Asep Sukmana, General Chairperson of the West Java Provincial LPTQ, on Monday (3/8/2026). He stated that the decision was taken as an adjustment to the situation and conditions. However, the West Java LPTQ will maintain the continuity of its priority programmes, particularly the preparation and dispatch of a contingent for the 2026 National MTQ. “We hope this information can serve as a guideline for all district and city LPTQs. Furthermore, we invite all LPTQ ranks to remain committed to fostering and developing Quran recitation in their respective regions,” he said.
