West Java Provincial Government Urges Local Authorities to Actively Rectify Socio-Economic Decile Data

Local governments in West Java have been requested to respond to every citizen complaint regarding discrepancies in socio-economic data within the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN). Local authorities must provide clear information and facilitate the process of correcting citizen data.

The Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, explained that the province has issued circular number 8284/PW.04.02/ASDA EKBANG, dated 1 September 2026. This instruction refers to a letter from the Head of the West Java Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) regarding support for the socialisation of DTSEN updates for higher education assistance programmes.

Through the circular sent to the 27 regency and city secretaries across West Java, the provincial government has established three primary instructions. First, local governments are required to intensify socialisation down to the sub-district, village, and neighbourhood levels so that the public understands the procedures for updating data independently via the dtsen-form.bps.go.id website.

Secondly, village heads and neighbourhood leaders are instructed to take direct action to assist residents wishing to update their data by issuing certificates that reflect the factual condition of the family. Third, regency and city governments are requested to strengthen coordination with their respective local BPS offices to ensure a smooth data validation process, according to statements made in Bandung on Wednesday (2/9).

Furthermore, it was noted that the public must receive clear information regarding the data update mechanism, including access to facilities for correcting data if the recorded decile does not match their actual socio-economic condition. Therefore, the instruction must be immediately followed up by all local governments, with the provincial government emphasising that these steps must be implemented seriously.
