Jakarta — The West Java Provincial Government will suspend angkot drivers, ojek riders, becak and andong to help ensure smooth traffic on mudik routes during Lebaran 2026. This was announced by Governor Dedi Mulyadi in a video posted on the Instagram account @dedimulyadi71.

“Angkot drivers, ojek riders, becak and andong along the mudik routes will be on holiday for a week. So during the mudik period they can stay at home with their families and receive compensation for a week not working,” Dedi said in the video on the account @dedimulyadi71.

To complete this, the West Java provincial government will not burden the police with securing the mudik traffic. The authorities will instead help traffic flow by providing compensation to those drivers on mudik routes so they will refrain from operating temporarily.

“The West Java provincial government will not place too heavy a burden on the National Police (Polri); I have already informed the Police Chief that all mudik routes with angkot, becak, andong and other related elements will be suspended ahead of and after Eid al-Fitr,” said Dedi in a press release on Thursday (5/3/2026).

As a result, mudik traffic in West Java is not expected to experience bottlenecks, allowing people heading to Central Java and East Java to pass through West Java smoothly. However, the amount of pocket money to be provided to those who are suspended has not yet been disclosed.

Meanwhile, Sujatmiko Baliarto, Head of the Bogor City Department of Transportation (Kadishub), said the directive does not apply uniformly across West Java. In Bogor City, angkot operations will continue normally.

“If in Bogor City this does not apply. Not all areas of West Java will implement suspending angkot and ojek during the Lebaran mudik,” he told Kompas.com on Thursday (5/3/2026).
