West Java Provincial Government to Cover Medical Costs for Bandung False Imprisonment Victim

The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) has confirmed it will cover all medical and surgical costs for YTR (29), a woman who was allegedly abused and held captive for three years in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency. Head of the West Java Provincial Health Office, Raden Vini Adiani Dewi, stated that this measure is a direct instruction from the Governor of West Java to ensure the smooth administrative and medical process for the victim at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung. “My arrival here is solely to assist according to the Governor’s instructions. All financing for her health is covered by the Governor and the West Java Provincial Government,” Vini said after reviewing the victim’s condition at RSHS Bandung, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (23/6). Vini explained that YTR’s health condition is currently showing positive progress. However, the victim still requires a series of further medical treatments, including operations that must be performed in stages due to the impact of the abuse she suffered. “Her condition is now, thank God, continuing to improve. But indeed, the operation may need to be done in stages,” she added. The Health Office’s main focus is ensuring the financial support from the regional government is realised immediately so the medical team can work optimally without administrative cost constraints. The case came to light after YTR was found following approximately three years of captivity allegedly by her boyfriend, Taufik Hidayat. Regarding the legal aspect, the West Java Regional Police have named Taufik Hidayat as a suspect. The police are currently still pursuing the suspect and have issued a wanted list (DPO) as he remains at large.
