West Java Provincial Government Threatens to Sack Civil Servants Involved in LGBT

The West Java provincial government will take firm action against civil servants involved in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender activities. They have prepared sanctions ranging from light penalties to dismissal if civil servants are proven to be involved. “I have emphasised several times that we, the West Java Provincial Government, are combating LGBT in the West Java region,” said West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan in Bandung on Thursday. Erwan added that he will coordinate with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum to minimise the spread of LGBT. They also request that the public report any cases they encounter. “I hope the public will provide accurate reports, report them to the police or to us, so that we can act quickly to eradicate LGBT in West Java as well,” he said. He stated that civil servants indicated to be involved in LGBT will face strict sanctions in accordance with the law, with the most severe sanction being dismissal. “I appeal especially if there are civil servants who are LGBT, we will take very firm action in accordance with the law. We will dismiss them, the heaviest sanction is to dismiss them,” he said. He added that if the matter falls into the criminal realm, it will be handed over to law enforcement officials. The government previously designated LGBT as a non-military threat, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 111 of 2025 concerning the General Policy on State Defence for 2025-2029.
