West Java Provincial Government Supports Sundanese Consultative Assembly as Forum for Dialogue and Ideas
The West Java Provincial Government supports the presence of the Sundanese Consultative Assembly (MMS) as a space for fostering relationships and exchanging ideas among Sundanese figures from various backgrounds. It was emphasised that the development of West Java requires collaboration and support from all elements of society, including figures with experience, capacity, and concern for regional progress.
‘This is extraordinary. We, the West Java Provincial Government, provide support and appreciation, and most importantly, how the prominent figures in West Java who are members of the MMS can contribute their thoughts, criticisms, and suggestions to improve development performance in West Java,’ said West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman in a statement on Tuesday (11/8/2026).
This was conveyed by Herman while attending the Sundanese Consultative Assembly Meeting at the Imeri Building, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (8/8/2026). He expressed hope that the MMS could become a strategic partner in providing input to the government, so that various policies and development programmes can be continuously improved. ‘Because the ultimate goal is how to make West Java Istimewa (Special),’ he said.
Herman revealed that the aspiration to realise a Special West Java cannot be achieved by the government alone. He stressed the importance of a spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation from all elements of society. ‘And we must work hand in hand, sareundeuk, saigel, sapihanean (together in harmony and unity),’ he said. He also requested that the Sundanese figures gathered in the MMS not stop providing constructive criticism and suggestions regarding the course of development in West Java.
Herman added that this support is important because the MMS brings together Sundanese figures from various fields who have experience and contributions at both the regional and national levels. For information, the MMS meeting in Jakarta was part of a series of events for its second anniversary and served as a gathering space for Sundanese figures from various backgrounds. The forum brought together figures, academics, government officials, cultural practitioners, professionals, and various elements of society. Throughout its journey, the MMS has developed a forum to discuss various issues, ranging from culture, social affairs, the environment, and the economy to national issues. Through the Pasamoan Inohong Sunda in Jakarta, this meeting space was expanded. Jakarta is an important point because many Sundanese figures are active at the national level in various fields, ranging from government, academia, and professional sectors to social, cultural, and community service.
