The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) is simplifying the process for the public to pay Motor Vehicle Tax. Starting from 6 April 2026, citizens can fulfil their annual Motor Vehicle Tax obligations without bringing the identity card (KTP) of the vehicle’s original owner.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that those paying the Motor Vehicle Tax need only bring the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK) and the identity card (KTP) of the person in possession of the vehicle. This facilitation applies to both individual and corporate taxpayers.

“May this simplification smooth out all Samsat services in West Java and make it easier for the public to pay their taxes,” said Dedi Mulyadi in a written statement on Monday (13 April 2026).

Furthermore, this measure is expected to increase public awareness and compliance in paying the Motor Vehicle Tax.

The policy is a response to a complaint from a resident who felt hindered when paying tax at one of the Samsat offices in West Java. The resident was asked to pay an unofficial additional fee of Rp 700,000 because they did not bring the original vehicle owner’s KTP. They subsequently uploaded a video of the incident to social media, which came to Dedi Mulyadi’s attention.

“Paying taxes must not be made difficult because the government’s duty is to facilitate people in paying taxes,” said Dedi Mulyadi.

The public is urged to take advantage of this simplification by paying their Motor Vehicle Tax on time to contribute to realising a Superior West Java.
