West Java Provincial Government Revitalises Jalupang Rubber Plantation in Subang, 4,200 Trees Planted

The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) is set to revitalise 32 hectares of the Jalupang Rubber Plantation in Dawuan District, Subang Regency. During the initial planting phase, 4,200 rubber seedlings have been planted across 7 hectares of land and are currently undergoing maintenance.

The plantation had previously been converted into cassava fields and was being cultivated by local residents.

The Head of the West Java Plantation Service, Gandjar Yiditsna, stated that monitoring results show the planted seedlings are adapting well to the environment. “New shoots have already emerged, and the mortality rate is less than 1 per cent, or fewer than 10 trees,” Gandjar said on Monday (31/08/2026).

The Jalupang Rubber Plantation is becoming greener with the growth of the rubber trees. Furthermore, the plantation revitalisation is impacting soil conditions, which now possess higher nutrient levels. These nutrients are essential for plants to grow, develop, and undergo normal metabolism.

The peripheral areas of the revitalised plantation are being utilised by residents as a source of additional income, with the planting of other commodities such as coconut and citronella.

The revitalisation of the Jalupang Rubber Plantation also provides benefits in terms of labour absorption. Former cassava farmers who previously worked the land in the Jalupang Plantation are being included in the revitalisation process.

This revitalisation project, which follows instructions from the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, will continue. During the rainy season in October 2026, the planting of rubber trees will be intensified to ensure the target of revitalising the full 32 hectares of the Jalupang Rubber Plantation is achieved by the end of 2026. Currently, planting holes have already been prepared by field officers.
