The West Java Provincial Government is accelerating infrastructure development to support community mobility and regional economic growth. This strategic step is being realised through the reconstruction of the Sagaranten–Tegalbuleud road section in Sukabumi Regency. The project, funded with a budget of Rp35 billion from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), covers a road length of approximately 7 kilometres. Physical works are targeted for completion within 195 calendar days.

For years, the condition of the Sagaranten–Tegalbuleud road has posed a significant challenge for local residents. Severe road damage not only extended travel times but also increased vehicle operating costs and hampered logistics distribution. Residents have expressed that poor road access has long been a major obstacle to economic activity, education, and even healthcare services. The commencement of reconstruction now offers renewed hope for restoring productivity in the South Sukabumi region.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring this reconstruction delivers tangible benefits beyond mere physical road repairs. He stated that adequate infrastructure is key to strengthening inter-regional connectivity. “Building a road is not just about building infrastructure. It is an effort to reconnect the economic arteries, shorten distances, accelerate mobility, and open up more opportunities for the community,” said the Governor, familiarly known as KDM. He added that improved road access will speed up the distribution of agricultural products, which are a leading commodity in Sukabumi, and make it easier for the younger generation to reach educational facilities.

The construction of this road section is seen as having a strategic role in connecting the community with job opportunities and a better future. The West Java Provincial Government views equitable infrastructure development as a key instrument for sustainably improving the quality of public services. “A good road does not just connect two places. It connects hopes, jobs, education, and the future,” Dedi Mulyadi asserted. This reconstruction programme is part of the provincial government’s broader vision to ensure that all regions, including remote districts, have adequate infrastructure standards to support the overall welfare of the community.
