West Java Provincial Government Prepares Financial Assistance for Virgo Ship Accident Survivors

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi will provide financial assistance to the 12 survivors of the Virgo Transport 8 ship accident. The survivors are currently located in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.

Each survivor will receive Rp7 million in assistance. “The breakdown includes Rp2 million for return airfare, Rp1 million for living expenses while there, and Rp4 million for their families at home, as they lost the wages they earned on the ship over the past month,” said Dedi Mulyadi on Tuesday (15/09/2026).

The 12 survivors consist of 11 individuals from Garut Regency and one resident from Cianjur.

Furthermore, in the event of fatalities, Dedi Mulyadi will provide bereavement compensation to the heirs amounting to Rp25 million per victim. He expressed hope that the Virgo Transport 8 accident would be the final incident of its kind and that no similar events would occur in the future.
