West Java Provincial Government Involves KPK to Strengthen Officials' Family Integrity

Bandung (ANTARA) — The West Java Provincial Government has partnered with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to provide Integrity Family Technical Guidance to echelon II officials and their spouses in an effort to strengthen corruption prevention.

West Java Vice Governor Erwan Setiawan, in a statement issued in Bandung on Sunday, said that financial pressure and lifestyle demands from the family environment are often factors that drive officials into corrupt practices or the acceptance of gratuities.

“Often, someone intends to work with integrity, but because of pressure from their spouse, they eventually fall into corruption. That is why we have invited their spouses, so they understand how to provide positive support,” Erwan said.

“So that they remain person of integrity, with no intention of committing corruption or accepting gratuities. The main goal is that when their term of office ends, all officials can finish it with a good ending (husnul khatimah),” he said.

“A family or spouse with integrity is one who creates harmony in the household. At the very least, a spouse serves as the primary reminder not to engage in corruption,” said Ibnu.

He added that strengthening family-based anti-corruption values is expected to build a more accountable bureaucratic ecosystem in West Java and reduce opportunities for the abuse of authority.
