The West Java Provincial Government is collaborating with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to provide Family Integrity Technical Guidance to echelon II officials and their spouses in an effort to strengthen corruption prevention. West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan stated in Bandung on Sunday that financial pressure and lifestyle demands from the family environment often become factors driving officials into corrupt practices or accepting gratuities. “Often someone already intends to work with integrity, but due to pressure from their partner, they end up falling into corruption. Therefore, we invited their partners so they understand how to provide positive support,” Erwan said. “To maintain integrity, there must be no intention to commit corruption or accept gratuities. The main goal is that when their term of office ends, all officials can finish it with a good ending,” he continued. Ibnu added that a family or partner with integrity is one that brings peace to the household. At the very least, the partner serves as the primary reminder not to commit corruption. He added that strengthening family-based anti-corruption values is expected to build a more accountable bureaucracy ecosystem in West Java and minimise opportunities for abuse of authority.
