The Work From Home (WFH) policy implemented by the West Java Provincial Government (Jabar) every Thursday has been running effectively. This is because the performance of civil servants (ASN) is not only assessed by physical presence in the office, but by the development results achieved.

“We have been running WFH for a long time, and it is effective. Just look at the development products; whether they succeed or not. So far, administration has run well, and budget spending realisation is even over target,” stated West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi after a silaturahmi with provincial government employees and regional heads across West Java at Gedung Sate on Monday (30/3).

This silaturahmi activity served as a momentum for consolidation between the Provincial Government and regional heads to strengthen development synergy in the West Java region. On that occasion, the governor emphasised the importance of bureaucratic effectiveness and strengthening technical personnel in public services.

“Our problem is that there are too many structural positions, more functions that order rather than those that do the work,” he explained.

According to Dedi, the government needs more human resources directly involved in technical services. Therefore, in the future, he will increase the number of personnel working on direct technical services.

The Governor also expressed apologies to the employees. He also revealed several important agendas being carried out by the regional government, from the submission of the Accountability Statement Report (LKPJ) to the examination process by the Financial Audit Board (BPK).

Previously, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the discourse on implementing WFH policy or Distance Learning (PJJ) in the Bandung City Government environment is still under discussion, while awaiting implementation instructions (juklak) and technical guidelines (juknis) from the central government. Currently, there are differing recommendations between the central government and the provincial government regarding flexible work patterns.

“The West Java Provincial Government suggests WFA every Thursday. Meanwhile, the central government proposes implementation on Friday. This is still in the study stage by the Bandung City Government, considering field conditions, including the possibility of implementing PJJ in the school environment,” he explained.
