West Java Provincial Government Grants Holiday to Thousands of Minibus Drivers in Sukabumi
The West Java Provincial Government has granted a holiday to thousands of minibus drivers operating in the Cibadak area of Sukabumi Regency during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic. The Secretary of the West Java Transportation Agency, Diding Abidin, stated that the policy was implemented considering the traffic burden in the Cibadak area, which causes severe congestion during the Lebaran holiday. According to Diding, there are six minibus routes operating in the Cibadak area of Sukabumi Regency. The number of minibus drivers granted the holiday reaches 1,120 people. These thousands of minibus drivers will be on holiday for three days, namely on 23, 24, and 29 March 2026. The determination of the holiday dates is based on predictions of potential traffic density that will occur in the Cibadak area of Sukabumi Regency. Diding said that the thousands of drivers will be given compensation from the West Java Transportation Agency amounting to Rp 200,000 per day for each driver. “So even though they are not driving, they are still given compensation of Rp 200,000 per day. For three days, the total is Rp 600,000,” said Diding in his statement on Thursday, 26 March 2026. According to him, the West Java Transportation Agency had previously conducted data collection on the minibus drivers in the Cibadak area. The data was collected, validated, and then the compensation money was paid to all minibus drivers. Diding said that for minibus drivers who force themselves to operate even after receiving compensation, enforcement will be carried out. “If they have received compensation but still operate, we will remind them not to operate,” he said.
